Susanne Zippel >>

CEO, founder of MITTELPUNKT ZHONGDIAN, graduate in Communication Design

Susanne Zippel

“As a designer I rate many things around me from a visual and aesthetic perspective. But when it comes down to it design is something very subjective, isn’t it? It’s always the individual observer who decides what they find attractive. It’s the market that decides what is right. With many years of intercultural experience, I am able to support you in ensuring that your message reaches your recipient as rapidly and accurately as possible”.

Since 1990, Susanne Zippel has lived and worked a total of nine years in Japan and China. In 1991, when she was living in Japan, the graduate in Typesetting and Photography began studying Communication Design at the renowned Berlin-Weißensee School of Art. Five years later, she returned to Germany and founded the design agency Logoß that is still around today and mainly focuses on the corporate business and publishing sector. She was soon able to count renowned companies such as Mercedes-Benz and the Reclam Verlag among her clients.

Since the beginning of 2006, Susanne Zippel has been living in South-West China, in the city of Suzhou, near Shanghai. In addition to the necessary learning of the Chinese language, she continues to devote a lot of her time to focussing on multilingual typography: “Latin and Chinese characters put into context” is the working title of her research and design project. In 2009, she teamed up with Chinese partners to found the consulting and design agency MITTELPUNKT ZHONGDIAN.

Markus Wegner

“The Chinese language is all about understanding characters. In Chinese peoples’ consciousness, the type and arrangement of the characters reflects the order of things and people, the hierarchies and relationships, the right attitude and the time to act. Nobody understands a Chinese person without their written language and their characters”.

Born in Germany, Markus Wegner is a graduate in Chinese Studies and English studies and has many years of experience with the Chinese media and trade fairs. He speaks and writes fluent Chinese and provides on-site customer support in China and in Germany.

Jana Faust >>

Graduate in Communication Design and Typography, customer contacts in Germany, seminar planning

“When I met Susanne Zippel, she stoked my interest in the Chinese written language and I still thought that with my knowledge and skills it couldn’t be that difficult to create Chinese layouts, even if they were in another language. She put me right and I realised that you never stop learning. A new world of information opened up to me, which has changed my view of my culture and language”.

The typeface designer and typographer Jana Faust provides graphic support for our customers in both Germany and China. She runs her own design studio in Berlin from where she also coordinates our seminar and presentation offers.
